Bathtime Adventure
So maybe yall expect this blog to be full of cutesie baby stories and pics, but some may not consider this so cutesie, so consider yourself warned. I have not stopped laughing for the last fifteen minutes, so I thought I would blog about our adventure.
Justin and I were tagteaming a stinky diaper. As Justin was cleaning the baby and I was throwing away the dirty diaper, I noticed that it was only poopy, not wet. We both began to say something like "well we better watch out, then" but never finished the statement before Mason started "watering the garden," catching us both off-guard, even though we were warning ourselves of that very incident. So into the bathroom we went to clean the little guy off.
Well, Mason doesn't like to be naked, so he was already crying. We filled the tub (big-kid tub, our little plastic whale tub is being shipped to us as we speak), and turned on the little baby radio that came with our crib to try and calm our screaming lad. We started to bathe him. Well, apparently he wasn't quite finished pooping, and he delivered into the freshly filled tub. So I picked him up and put him into the bathroom sink to wash the shampoo out of his hair while Justin drained and cleaned the tub. Mason was not pleased with that transition (as if he was pleased with being in the big tub) and started doing the crying where he uses every bit of his breath while he screams so there is a moment of silence while he reloads. So I picked him up with his suds-filled hair and cuddled him into me to try and let him know we still loved him.
Then he exploded. From down under.
So back over to the freshly cleaned tub he went. That's true love, right? Holding your child's poo in your hands? Justin said that's one of the things mothers do. Anyway, Justin used a cup to wash out the shampoo while I just held Mason over the tub, we got the diaper on him to prevent any further damage, and most everything made of cloth in the bathroom is now hitting the rinse cycle in the washer.
Mason is now bundled, warm, squeaky clean, and pleasantly lying next to me, looking around as if nothing ever happened. Welcome to parenthood.

Mason's Week #2
I'm just going to post some photos. It was so so great to have my parents and sister in town to help with Mason. He had his first Easter and was blessed in church that same day. Thanks Granny for the outfit! Tonight will be the first night we are alone as a family, and I am nervous. Grandma Cheesman was an angel who worked miracles every night. I don't know what I'll do without her.

Why Should YOU Come Out for the Walk/Run?

About 2 months ago, one of my good friends, along with her 2 sons were involved in a head on collision. The baby came out with 0 injuries. My friend, Jessica, came out with 2 broken ankles, a broken tibia, and some very scratched up legs. She still won't be able to walk for another 2 months or so. Her other son, Collin(5 yrs old), had it the worst. He fractured his neck, and severed a nerve in his spinal cord/lower back. After he had surgery, the Dr. said he was paralyzed. It was the worst injury he had seen in years. Miraculously, since then he has gained feeling and even movement in his left leg. He is a fighter! He has managed to keep a smile on his face even though he hasn't been home in 2 months and is still in pain. Only time will tell if he will ever be able to walk again.
Grayson is holding a run/walk on Saturday, May 2 at Tribble Mill Park for Collin and the family. I am leaving for Hawaii on May 1. Since I can't be there, I told Jessica I would do my best to get as many people as I know to go. I believe it is $25 per person. Jessica and her family will be there. It is for a great cause. I know a lot of you who read this blog live in the area, so mark your calendars! Grab your friends and go get some excercise! I'll post more info about it once I know more.
If you aren't able to make it to the walk, but still want to help, there is a fund set up at Wachovia Bank. You can go to any Wachovia and let them know you want to make a donation to the Collin D. Lancaster Assistance Fund and these "love" gifts will go directly to the family.

Welcome Mason!
He came he came he came!

Born 31 March 2009, 5:12 am (long long night)
9 lbs .06 oz.
21.5 in.
He has been a sweet, sweet baby. The first night at home, sleep did not occur, but now we know how he likes to sleep. Then he became jaundicey and we had to keep him in a tanning bed for 20 hours straight. That was also an adventure.
Grandma and Grandpa Cheesman are in town now and he LOVES them! He looks more and more like Grandma Hochstein everyday.
Justin and I are doing well adjusting to having him in our lives, even with the growing bags developing under our eyes. I am still quite sore from our 9 lb wonder, but I am feeling better everyday. Justin is an amazing father, I could not ask for a better partner in this adventure of parenthood. He has mastered swaddling and changes diapers more often than I do!
