Watermelon!

I've been wanting a photo of all my boys eating enormous slices of watermelon in a country-style setting. Mason has been begging me to eat a huge slice of watermelon all summer. We finally got what we wanted. This was so entertaining for me. Here are a bunch of the pictures. I still don't know which one I'm going to hang on my wall. I know I could just post one photo for this blog post, but I'm not. Plus there is a video for a greater taste of overkill.

This is the one I used on Instagram.

This may be my favorite.

Love this action shot

Day at the Lake

We met up with some friends at Boulder Reservoir on a very hot day. It's the closest thing we have to a beach here in land-locked Colorado.  It's a little crowded and the water is certainly questionable, but the boys loved it. Weston learned by experience that sand is not tasty. But, he did learn, and didn't try it again the rest of the day.

Protecting his perfect skin. For a few minutes, anyway.

Drying off.

Pouting about having to leave.

See that external temp? It was really about 97 degrees, but still. Whew!

Summer Vacation 2014: South Dakota Adventures

I'm going to do this in one really long post. Just a warning before you dive in. Here we go.

After Justin arrived in Alabama, we hit the road and drove to South Dakota for the last day of the annual Podzimek family reunion. We jumped in the pool as soon as we arrived. Then we headed back to Lee and Mary's house and played for a week! Nick and Lydia were also in town (they're engaged! Yay!), and Josh just moved back home, so the whole family was there! It was so great to catch up with everyone!

So excited to see Sarah and Babi again!

Really good bbq sauce. We wanted to remember it.

The next night Opa helped set up a tent in the back yard. Justin slept out there with Mason and Donovan.

Love this park!

Mason had a thing for the baby swings this time.

"I loooove yooooou Daddddyyyyyyy!"

I took this same picture a few years back. They've changed a bit.

The beach of the Missouri River. You can see Nebraska on the other side.

Go Carts! D was upset he didn't get to drive like Mason did. I have a video below.

Mason was nervous about crashing into the side, but he did a great job!

D fell asleep. Must have been a relaxing ride. Or he just missed his nap and was severely overstimulated. After this we went on a larger go cart track and Mason rode with me, but D was passed out and missed the whole thing. Thanks, Sarah, for holding him!

Playing in the front yard.

Good ol' TV time. Never gets old. To them.

They are not fitting in these grocery cart cars like they used to...

We visited the hatchery and aquarium for the first time.

D loved this turtle.

This skinny thing was packed full of hundreds of large fish. It was kind of sad. We fed them.

My favorite moments. Hanging out around the table, playing and talking.

Bowling!

The ball can sure take its time getting to the other end of that lane.

Of course, since D turned 3, we had to have THREE parties! These cupcakes are delish!

We didn't think to take family pictures until the last night everyone was in town, after we had gotten ready for bed. But we got em!

And some videos of the week:

GO CARTS

GIGGLING WESTON!

BOWLING!

(Donovan told me afterwards that he didn't want to bowl because he was waiting for Lydia to come and help him. He thinks she's pretty. Love him.)
